What’s so great about Linux? Linux is free, Is always up-to-date and way more secure than Windows. Linux used to be so complex that only real hardcore programming geeks really could use it. Now Linux is so easy to use that a caveman can use it… seriously!

One of my favorite shows, The Linux Action Show, released an episode today (Below) to answer all common beginner questions regarding Linux. Try out Linux, it’s free so you have absolutely nothing to Lose.

I just recently learned that Cartoon Network is airing a new series simply called “MAD”. Unfortunately this is not a comeback for “MADtv“, but it is a cartoon series more based off of the actual magazine. Judging from the preview (below), it looks like it will have small, humorous, cartoon shorts including “Spy vs. Spy” which I really look forward to. If you are fans of Robot Chicken or the 90′s show KaBlam!, then I’m pleased to inform you that Kevin Shinick (Robot Chicken) and Mark Marek (KaBlam!) will be producing.

I’m curious to see if this series will survive. At this point it is hard to tell if it’s going to be a hit or a big flop. Looking at the preview is almost like looking at a preview for a movie that hasn’t been released: It looks good, but will it be good?. We’ll see.

MAD’s series premier is on Monday, September 6 at 8:30pm on Cartoon Network.

If you were on the internet on the Wednesday, you have probably noticed how hyped up people were about Old Spice. The reason for that was that the Old Spice guy was standing on a bathroom set in a towel answering people’s tweets in real time. Once I saw this, I was jumping off the walls surprised on how awesome of a marketing strategy this was. It wasn’t just up-to-date, it was genius.

The Old Spice guy is Isaiah Mustafa, an NFL wide receiver turned actor. Yesterday, he ended his responses after a total of 184 videos. The videos were made in response to user comments posted on Reddit, Twitter, and Facebook and if you were lucky, you would get a hilarious response within an hour.

Yesterday, I read a great article on ReadWriteWeb titled “How the Old Spice Videos Are Being Made” Which explains how tech geeks and marketers (from Wieden + Kennedy) can collaborate by collecting the data, writing the scripts, collecting props, and filming the response all within a short period of time.

Here’s just a taste of the videos they posted. This is the conclusion video, but still pretty funny:

If you all have seen the news recently, you must’ve seen the story about Abby Sunderland, a 16 year old that had the goal to circumnavigate the world via sailboat. On June 10th, Abby ended up going through a rough storm in the Indian Ocean causing the mast to snap off of her boat. Because of this, Abby activated two of her emergency beacons which caused a massive search and rescue effort. On June 11th, the Australian Maritime Authority sent a Quantas Airbus A330 passenger jet over 2000 miles (almost to that aircraft’s limit) to Abby’s location. Once the plane found her location, they gained radio contact with Abby, who then stated that she was fine. On the 12th, a French merchant vessel name the Ile de la Reunion rescued Abby from her stranded boat.
Since then, the Sunderland family has been criticized for not paying any money towards the cost of the rescue. The Australian search and rescue refused to give out the cost of the rescue, but many people say that the Australian people have paid thousands in tax money for the rescue.
One problem I see with this is since when did people have to pay the Coast Guard for their rescue? If you get lost near Australia, do you have to pay the Australian authorities for your rescue? I think that since she was so young and under 18 and was doing something no one else has the guts to do, everyone is now wanting to single them out for money. Many people get away with getting rescued offshore by the Coast Guard each year and they don’t have to pay a cent for their rescue and now the people who have expensive boats now have to pay a pretty penny to be rescued. That is ridiculous. What kind of low-life people think of something so damn stupid like that?
I hope Abby gets back on her feet and saves up for a new boat and tries to do this again. This is a girl that is an expert (yes, at 16 you can be an expert at something) at what she does. She knows this is dangerous. This girl has a true dream and she’s doing a damn good job at making this dream come true. Go Abby!
Check out:

I got a response from Boxee this morning that had a link to this page. Apparently, we’ll see a set top box from them in November. I was reading through the comments and learned that they are selling the Boxee remote separately as well. So this means that if you already have a PC running Boxee, you can purchase their remote which has a built in keyboard on the back

The fact that the Boxee Box was supposed to be released right about now like they announced and the fact that that didn’t happen still pisses me off, but at least we have a solid month to go off of . I sure as hell hope that they don’t delay it again. Another delay would make me want to switch to a different box such as Roku or GoogleTV.

Also, we have the recently announced GoogleTV which we don’t really know when it’s going to be released or even how much it’s going to cost. What set top streaming box or setup do you use?
